NATIONWIDE PERMIT UPDATE:
Final §401 Water Quality Certification and Coastal Zone Management Consistency Determination Issued
On April 7, 2017, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) released the final §401 Water Quality Certification (WQC) for the 2017 Nationwide Permits (NWPs). Several noteworthy changes have been made since the draft §401 WQC was issued on February 15, 2017 and are addressed in further detail below. Additionally, on April 5, 2017 DEQ issued the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program Consistency Determination for the 2017 NWPs and Regional Conditions. The associated 2017 NWPs took effect on March 19, 2017 and will expire on March 18, 2022.
UPDATE: Nationwide Permit (NWP) and State Program General Permit (SPGP) Seminar - April 20,2017
Newly added: Colonel Jason Kelly, Norfolk District Commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will provide an introduction to kick off this year’s seminar.
In an effort to update the regulated community on the 2017 NWP and SPGP changes, WSSI is hosting an educational seminar on April 20, 2017 (1:00 to 3:30) in our Gainesville office. Speakers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Headquarters and Norfolk) and Virginia Department of Environmental Quality will discuss the new permit programs and associated changes.
