WSSI is seeking an entry-level GIS Technician (1 to 5 years GIS experience) to start immediately. This is a full-time position. A Degree in GIS, Geography, Cartography, or Environmental Sciences, and a Certificate in GIS is preferred.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Generating custom and template maps for environmental and engineering staff using ESRI ArcMap and AutoCAD software.
Prepare detailed feature extraction workflows and rulesets using Trimble’s eCognition.
Providing spatial data management - which may include data entry, data creation, data acquisition, importing, exporting, editing, geo-referencing, converting and scaling between projections, and editing vector and raster datasets.
Calculating drainage area divides, performing watershed analysis, historic map research and interpretation, aerial photograph interpretation, cultural/historic resources data management, and land cover classification.

Job responsibilities will include National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) inspections and reporting, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development, and coordinating with federal and state resource agencies with regard to wetlands, erosion and sediment control and stormwater issues. Bachelor’s Degree in environmental studies, wildlife biology, or related field is required. Willingness to work both independently and as a part of a team are required. Experience working with a diverse client base in both the public and private sectors is highly desirable. One year of construction related monitoring/inspection is a plus. Erosion and sediment control certifications (CPESC, CESSWI, CISEC) are a plus, but not required.

POSITION FILLED: Ecosystems Technician: Gainesville, Virginia
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. is currently seeking a full time, entry to mid-level Ecosystem Technician. Primary duties will include but are not limited to: general maintenance and monitoring of wetland and stream mitigation sites, construction inspection of wetland and stream restoration projects, sapling nursery management, hydraulic dredging, invasive species control, erosion and sediment control, and LID/LEED building and landscape maintenance. This position involves mostly outdoor work with rigorous physical labor and may occasionally involve working long hours. Typical work week is between 40-50 hours.

Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. has an opening for an mid-level Project Regulatory Specialist. This position serves as liaison between regulatory agencies and clients for permit procurement. Ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of previous experience, DEQ/COE regulatory experience is a plus. Minimum qualifications include B.A./B.S. in environmental planning, science or engineering and a basic knowledge of environmental regulations pertaining to 401/404 Clean Water Act and Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act; knowledge of AutoCAD®, local land development practices, NEPA, FEMA or FERC regulations is a plus. PRIMARY DUTIES

Perform minor building repairs
Coordinate with outside contractors
Draft and implement preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment
Maintain vehicles and equipment ensuring they remain in proper working order and available for use as well as compliance with federal, state, and company policies
